Channeling the beats of Angolan Kuduro music through their Lisbon based experiences, Buraka Som Sistema have been gathering fans with their electro-world-grime-clash sound.
Famous names such as Diplo, M.I.A, the Count of Monte Cristal and Sinden have given them the thumbs up with M.I.A. guesting on a track.
With just one 12″ under their belt (scoring 12″ of the year from Fact Magazine) they have been a largely word of mouth phenomenom, but they are currently working on their debut album, entitled ‘Diamond’ and are playing in the UK soon, no doubt gaining them a multitude of new admirers. With lyrics as tough as their beats (tackling the corruption in diamond rich Angola) they offer a full package of twenty first century funk.
The band, Lil John, Conductor and Riot, have put together a clip of their travels in Angola for their track ‘Sound of Kuduro’ which features M.I.A., Saborosa, Dj Znobia, Puto Prata and some locals demonstrating some extraordinary dance moves.
