Scandinavian music often struggles to gain a foothold in the UK.
The distance, the expense involved in touring means that some groups simply can't afford to devote time to touring – which is what makes this weekend's instalment of The Great Escape so important.
Much more than a UK showcase, the Great Escape invites countless international groups to Brighton. The Scandinavian contingent will be there in force, with new groups already packing their equipment for the short trip across the North Sea.
Finnish group Big Wave Riders are foremost amongst them. Matching flecks of psychedelia to rhythms that recall the heyday of baggy, this is simply great fun.
Ahead of their set at this year's Great Escape we are able to present a brand new video from Big Wave Riders. 'Life Is Art, You Wonder' is all sneering poise and knockabout japes, with the Finnish group able to shrug off their influences with a cheeky wink.
Watch it now.
