Arkells should – by now – be known to you.
Three albums down, the Canadian band's type of crisp, contagious, rock songwriting has won a devout cult audience.
Fourth album 'Morning Report' though, is something of a change. The band's first for Last Gang Records, it arrives in August and finds Arkells shaking things up.
“Many of the songs are inspired by friends and family: I have a lot of interesting characters in my life and take a lot of joy in being able to write about them,” Max Kerman admits. “A lot of songs start from what happened the night before – that’s where the title comes from: friends who text the next day and demand ‘Give me the morning report!’”
An ambitious 12 track return, 'Morning Report' is set to be teased by new cut 'A Little Rain'. Clash is able to premiere the video, and it's an open, emotive return, one that is both lyrically rich and musically engrossing.
