If you thought that the summer couldn’t get any hotter, you were wrong. The new edition of Clash is set to make the season sizzle with four radiant cover stars – the first of whom, we can exclusively reveal, is Canadian teen sensation Shawn Mendes.
In four years, Shawn Mendes has gone from posting clips of himself singing on Vine to scoring four billion streams of his latest album, ‘Illuminate’. When Clash meets Shawn in London, having just completed the European leg of his current globe-spanning tour, he’s understandably – and quite rightly – on top of the world.
“I want to create anthems for people. I want to create anthems for big moments in their lives,” he enthuses. “I don’t want my music to play for a few months and then go away forever. And not only that, I want to do incredible things that make a difference too. I think it’s not only about the music you release, it’s about the things you do while you’re making the music.”
Opening up in this exclusive cover story, the 18-year-old singer-songwriter talks about the unique relationship he enjoys with his fans, the responsibility he feels toward them, and the impact felt on that community by the recent terror attack in Manchester.
Also in this dazzling issue are features with Sampha, Mac DeMarco, Mick Fleetwood, Maggie Rogers, Glen Matlock, J Hus, THEY., Alexandra Savior, Anne-Marie, Goldie and much more.
