The brand spanking new charity festival Red List Live has unveiled the first names on its bill with Liverpool group The Zutons set to appear.
The new event is due to take place in the Port Lympne Wild Animal Park in Kent and aims to raise £1 million to protect endangered species. The animal park looks after a number of rare species, and is a popular tourist resort in its own right.
The Zutons had a nasty shock last year when record label Deltasonic dropped the group. Their long term home, Deltasonic apparently felt the group weren’t commercial enough – despite writing one of the most successful singles since the turn of the Millennium in ‘Valerie’.
You can’t keep a good indie group down however, and the band are set to soldier on and have been writing new material. Joining The Zutons at Red List this summer are British Sea Power, whose album ‘Do You Like Rock Music?’ became one of the most acclaimed releases of 2009.
Also on the bill are punk veterans The Damned, who actually released the first British punk single in the form of ‘New Rose’. The band are still going strong, and will be joined by indie veterans The Wedding Present and The Wombats.
Red List has a commitment to new music, and to strengthen this the group have joined forces with Clash! Yes, Clash will curate an entire weekend’s worth of entertainment at the festival so keep your eyes peeled for more exciting developments!
Red List festival takes place in Port Lympne Wild Animal Park in Kent on June 19th – 21st.
