Transgressive Records has announced that fans of Young Knives will be able to choose the band’s setlist for their upcoming gig in celebration of the label’s fifth anniversary in September.
The bookish Oxford trio Young Knives play as part of a week of gigs to mark the fifth birthday of the London-based imprint, which also features performances from Foals, Johnny Flynn and Ox Eagle Lion Man.
A voting system listing the band’s songs can be found on the Trangressive website, where fans can choose their favourites. In addition, the tweed-clad rockers will be airing material from their third album for the first time, capping off what will surely be a unique show.
Young Knives headline the first of three shows, with support from solo-popper Esser and doom rockers Ox Eagle Lion Man, with Foals and Johnny Flynn topping the bill on the other two nights.
So So Modern and Two Door Cinema Club back Foals, whilst Jeremy Warmsley, Mechanical Bride and Dan Michaelson and the Coastguards support Johnny Flynn.
The Transgressive journey began back in 2004 when Bloc Party singer Kele Okereke introduced founders Tim Dellow and Toby L. The pair decided to launch an imprint that would remain true to itself and to its artists, and a truly innovative label was born.
As part of the build up to the celebrations, the label will host a stage at this weekend’s Leeds Festival, featuring live sets from Future Of The Left, Two Door Cinema Club and Wave Machines as well as a DJ set from Mystery Jets.
Young Knives and Foals will play at London’s Heaven venue on the 24th and 25th September respectively, whilst Johnny Flynn headlines the intimate Union Chapel on 26th.
