Yo La Tengo Confirm UK Tour Dates

New album due soon

Hoodlums of Hoboken Yo La Tengo are set to make a rare visit to the UK after confirming a number of tour dates.

Yo La Tengo are nothing less than an American rock institution. The band were formed back in 1984 and have managed play countless concerts and release a staggering fifteen albums alongside an incalculable number of singles.

Formed by husband and wife duo Ira Kaplan and Georgia Hubley, Yo La Tengo have moved from their shamlbing noise rock roots to become an ever so slightly more accomplished noise rock band.

With Kaplan’s witty and eccentric songwriting the band gathered a cult following before releasing debut album ‘New Wave Hot Dogs’. Typically, it gathered rave reviews yet sold extremely poorly establishing a precedent which has haunted Yo La Tengo to this day.

The band have become something of an institution Stateside, earning a wide ranging enough reputation for Matt Groening to invite Yo La Tengo to cover the theme song of hit cartoon show ‘The Simpsons’.

An always engaging live act, Yo La Tengo combine a sterling back catalogue with razor sharp wit. Truly, they don’t make bands like this anymore.

Yo La Tengo have been holed up in the recording studio recently, working on their forthcoming album ‘Popular Songs’. The trio did take time out, however, to appear at London’s Meltdown festival at the personal behest of curator Ornette Coleman.

The new tour represents fans’ first chance to hear material from ‘Popular Songs’. Yo La Tengo’s last album was 2006’s amusingly titled ‘I Am Not Afraid Of You And I Will Beat Your Ass’ although the band members did record together under the name ‘Condo Fucks’.

Yo La Tengo are due to release ‘Popular Songs’ on September 7th. The band have confirmed the following tour dates:

November
5 Dublin Tripod
6 Glasgow ABC
7 Manchester Academy 2
8 London The Roundhouse
