Yeah Yeah Yeahs saluted Sinead O’Connor during their set at All Points East over the weekend.
The Brooklyn trio returned to London for the show, with headliners The Strokes delivering a divisive set on the main stage. Indeed, for many onlookers, the headliners-in-all-but-name were on the West Arena.
Yeah Yeah Yeahs delivered a knockout set, with Karen O on flamboyant form. An incredible front-person, she was flanked by long-time co-conspirators Nick Zinner on guitar, and Brian Chase on drums.
Injecting their classic material with fresh energy, Yeah Yeah Yeahs drove the crowd into a post-downpour frenzy, culminating in an epic workout on ‘Off With Their Heads’.
It was ‘Maps’ though, which delivered the day’s most poignant moment – introducing the song, Karen O told All Points East that it was dedicated to the late Sinead O’Connor; “no one loves you like I love you,” indeed.
Elsewhere, The Walkmen continued their reformed run with a stellar set, while Angel Olsen impressed on the main stage.
Clash took time to head backstage, exploring KOKO Backstage at All Points East. Along the way, we sipped Casamigos cocktails and spotted Stereophonics’ own Kelly Jones, actor Joe Cole, fellow thesp Taron Edgerton, and Tara du Ross, with Sharon Horgan also in attendance.
