Yeah Yeah Yeahs are set to add to their upcoming UK tour, with the band planning a British blitz this winter.
Yeah Yeah Yeahs emerged in a shower of glitter and riffs back in 2001. Led by Karen O the group hinted at an art school past that had been demolished by the laddish nature of the Britpop phenomenon.
Instant icons, the band’s debut album ‘Fever To Tell’ more than matched the hype. Spawning a raft of Karen O clones the singer seemed to empower young female fans to take control over their appearance.
Yeah Yeah Yeahs returned after a short break earlier this year with their new album ‘It’s Blitz’. Produced by TV On The Radio mainman Dave Sitek the album gathered some controversy amongst some fans after seeming to abandon the guitar.
Instead, guitarist Nick Zinner began experimenting with antique synths, crafting a new dancefloor ready sound. Comeback single ‘Off With Their Heads’ was a case in point – featuring a disco referencing video, Karen O yelped over a near electro backing track.
Released to great acclaim, ‘It’s Blitz’ has become the soundtrack to the summer with Yeah Yeah Yeahs playing a raft of festivals. The band stormed Glastonbury before heading north to T In The Park.
