Alt country dons Wilco have unveiled plans to stage their own festival later this year.
The rise of festival culture has seen a number of boutique events spring up. Tired of sharing a bill with completely inappropriate acts, some bands have decided to up sticks and start their own event.
Alt country dons Wilco are set to follow suit with the American band launched plans to host their own festival. American magazine Stereogum reports that the event will take place over three days later this year.
Boasting “art, music, comedy, and interactivity” details of the actual bill are still a little thin on the ground. Wilco will perform, naturally, alongside the band’s deluge of side projects including On Fillmore, The Nels Cline Singers, The Autumn Defense, and Pronto.
However that’s not all as a host of friends and well wishers are set to descend on the North Adams site. Held in Massachusetts the event will also boast a range of activities ranging from music to art.
An interactive guitar pedal exhibit with Nels Cline has been confirmed, alongside concert poster screening demos. Wilco have also confirmed their intention to host “planned workshops by luthiers”.
Which is nice. The festival site itself is a huge museum of contemporary art, with the three day event due to take place in the middle of August.
Titled ‘Solid Sound’ tickets are priced at $86.50 for early birds, or $99.50 after June 1st.
