Gloomy Londoners White Lies have unveiled a series of massive headline tour dates, the band’s biggest to date.

January snow. Market meltdown. White Lies’ debut album ‘To Lose Your Life’ was released in fairly inauspicious circumstances, but it mixture of gothic grandeur and downbeat lyrics hit a chord as the New Year brought with it a set of new problems.

The smash hit album was the culmination of several year work for the group. Forming in London, the band honed their craft on the indie circuit, building a guitar sound as big as their ambition.

Anthemic yet downbeat, the band managed to secure a deal with Fiction Records amid mounting hype. Early singles such as ‘Unfinished Business’ and ‘Death’ marked out the band’s stall clearly – huge choruses and lyrics that spoke clearly of mistakes, regrets and a desperate urge for forgiveness.

Lead single ‘To Lose Your Life’ cracked the Top 40, and tour date after tour date left fans breathless with anticipation. When the band’s debut album dropped amid explosive reviews from critics, it soared to number one becoming the first British act of 2009 to manage this feat.

The band have dominated the music scene this year, with subsequent single ‘Farewell To The Fairground’ becoming their highest charting effort to date. Playing a number of tour dates, White Lies are set to be a hit at this summer’s festivals.

White Lies are set to take their downbeat crunch to Denmark’s legendary Roskilde event, as well as stopping off at Spain’s Benicassim event.

With White Lies claiming recently that they are to take a break soon to write new material, fans should cherish each live show. With the group seemingly getting bigger and better with each gig, White Lies are the perfect soundtrack for dark days.
