American psych-rock oddballs White Denim are set to play a very special free show in London to launch their debut album.
In these days of pigeon-hole indie (post-rave-folk crossover anyone?) it’s a relief to find a group as downright beserk as White Denim. Skipping between placid psych and jittery punk-funk the band rampage through genres without ever once looking back.
A power trio, the group formed some time ago but only took the name White Denim in 2007. Self-releasing the EP ‘Let’s Talk About It’ the band harked back to the glory days of the 80s underground rock scene, when ground breaking bands had to be sought out.
With their jaw dropping live shows White Denim quickly gathered a devoted following. Based in Texas, the band played showcase events such as SXSW and CMJ Music Marathon before winning ‘Best New Band’ at the 2008 Austin Music Awards.
Now signed to Full Time Hobby in the UK, the band locked themselves away last year to work on a new album. Honing their songwriting, White Denim managed to retain the ferocious energy of their live shows making ‘Fits’ one of the finest debuts of the year so far.

The band have organised a UK tour, which is due to coincide with their forthcoming single ‘I Start To Run’. An album highlight, it is due to be released on seven inch on July 6th through Full Time Hobby.
Beginning on June 23rd the tour winds its way around Britain before finishing up in legendary London nightspot Heaven July 8th.
White Denim are set to launch their new album ‘Fits’ with a show in London’s Rough Trade East. A legendary record store and a lynchpin of the capital’s music scene, the store is currently preparing itself for an all out assault from the Texan trio.
