British songwriting icon Paul Weller has been added to the bill for the forthcoming Eden Sessions.
Paul Weller is one of the most renowned songwriters in modern British music. As lead singer with The Jam and The Style Council the singer helped define new wave, releasing a series of classic albums.
After the collapse of The Style Council Weller spent some time on the sidelines, before launching his solo career in the early 90s. Recently earning the ‘Best British Male’ award at the Brits, Weller shows no sign of stopping releasing his latest solo album ’22 Dreams’ last year.
However the singer was forced to postpone a number of shows recently following the death of his father John. Weller Snr helped his son to success, becoming his manager from an early age. Often introducing the singer onstage, John Weller was a cult hero to fans and his death was mourned by many.
The new show is a part of Cornwall’s Eden Sessions. Taking place over the summer the shows are held in the award winning Eden Project, blending superb music with one of a kind surroundings.
Weller’s gig is in support of Prince Charles’ The Prince’s Rainforests Project, which aims to encourage collective action in the fight against climate change.
Already confirmed for this year’s Eden Sessions are Oasis. Paul Weller is close friends with the band, having appeared on such Oasis tracks as ‘Champagne Supernova’ and ‘The Swamp Song’.
Last year’s Weller solo album ’22 Dreams’ contained a song co-written by the Modfather and Oasis mainman Noel Gallagher – the first time they have fully collaborated on a song.
