One of the summer’s hottest parties just got a little hotter with the news that reggae legends The Wailer are set to play Guilfest.
Initially formed in the early 60s, The Wailers came to dominate Jamaican culture like no other band before or since. Led by Bob Marley, they espoused Rastafarianism at a time when the religion was despised by many on the island.
Of course, Bob Marley is dead now but the group continue to tour helping to keep his music alive. Containing many original members of the band, The Wailers are a remarkable tribute to the songwriting talent of a true genius.
Already announced for GuilFest are such sterling headliners as one time Beach Boys Brian Wilson and rock legends Motorhead. The pair might not seem to have much in common, but such is the magic of Guilfest – bringing together opposites to ensure there is something for everyone.
Other new additions to the bill include French easy listening group Nouvelle Vague. The band have become cult favourites with their nifty covers of punk and new wave classics, and are a sensational live act.
British indie favourites Athlete are also set to appear, with their fourth album scheduled to hit the shops over the summer. Joining the band on the bill is Irish singer Imelda May, who has won numerous awards in her homeland.
GuilFest is set to take place between July 10th – 12th.
