The Vintage Festival is set to return with the Southbank Centre being unveiled as the new venue.
Helmed by Wayne Hemingway, Vintage At Goodwood made a huge splash last summer. Showcasing British fashion and design from throughout the decades, the event brought thousands of fans together for an unusual weekend of music and exhibitions.
Now Vintage is to return, with London arts venue Southbank Centre installed as the new venue. Running between July 29th – 31st, the festival brings together an array of events drawing on the wealth of British design.
Broadening their scope somewhat, the latest instalment of Vintage moves from the 1920s to the 1980s. Focussing on seven decades of fashion and design, the Southbank centre will be transformed into a vintage playground.
Amongst the events planned is a music line up which includes eight decade specific nightclubs as well as three daily revue shows. Already confirmed to take part is 60s soul icon Percy Sledge and Alan Wilder from Depeche Mode.
Elsewhere, The Vintage Festival will boast ‘Soundtrack Of Their Lives’ – a series of catwalk shows Jo Wood, Pearl & Daisy Lowe and Sue Tilley.
In total, more than 150 DJs will take part in the festival playing almost every style of music imaginable. Some of the better known names include Andrew Weatherall, Greg Wilson and Notting Hill legend Norman Jay.
Unveiling a fully functioning pop up high street The Vintage Festival will host renowned brands from the past and present with the likes of retail outlets from Cath Kidston and the return of iconic 50s textile and dress makers Horrockses.
With the full line up yet to be unveiled The Vintage Festival is already shaping up to be an exciting new name for the festival calendar, coinciding with the anniversary of the 1951 Festival of Britain.
The Vintage Festival runs between July 29th – 31st.
