Renowned folk legend Vashti Bunyan has confirmed a new Spring tour, taking place across the UK.
For almost thirty years Vashti Bunyan was considered lost to music. Her sole completed album ‘Just Another Diamond Day’ was revered as a near perfect example of British hippy folk, uniting traditional music with a forward thinking mindset.
Costing several hundred pounds to buy, the much bootlegged release was cited as an influence by the likes of Devendra Banhart. Then, suddenly, Vashti Bunyan re-emerged playing her first live shows in decades.
Completing a remarkable comeback, her new album ‘Lookaftering’ was a stunning artistic success. Containing arrangements from original collaborator Robert Kirby the record was almost a time capsule from the golden era of Witchseason.
Last year Vashti Bunyan returned to the open road, touring with a Nick Drake tribute project named ‘Way To Blue’. The singer now lives in Scotland, and took time out to speak to ClashMusic revealing her incredible story.
With work on her new album still ongoing, the singer has decided to organise a new tour. Set to contain her classic material alongside those very special Nick Drake tributes, the dates contain some one off performances.
Vashti Bunyan’s new tour begins in Bristol on April 8th, before moving across the country. The singer is set to perform at London’s Union Chapel with the tour wrapping up in Bracknell on May 4th.
With Vashti Bunyan working on new material with Andy Cabic – of the San Francisco band Vetiver – the new dates could prove to be very special indeed.
