UNKLE To Get Classical

With one off performance

British dance giants UNKLE are planning a one off classical performance with the Heritage Orchestra.

Formed in the mid 90s, UNKLE are one of British music’s most expansive stories. With guest collaborators including everyone from Richard Ashcroft to DJ Shadow, the group’s output almost defies categorisation.

Set to return later this year with their new album ‘Where Did The Night Fall’ the band have been joined by a typically eclectic number of guests. Now UNKLE have unveiled plans for one of their most unusual collaborations yet.

Titled ‘Variation On A Theme’ a forthcoming concert will feature UNKLE’s music re-worked in collaboration with the Heritage Orchestra. The pair have performed together just once before, with the new show representing an almost unique chance to see the group’s back catalogue given an ambitious orchestral sheen.

Set to perform at the recently restored De La Warr Pavilion, the Bexleyheath show will take place on July 10th. The Heritage Orchestra specialise in uniting the classical repertoire with advancements in modern music.

The musicians have been involved with UNKLE before, having previously appeared on the track ‘Trouble In Paradise’. Leader James Lavelle seems to be enamoured with classical music, inviting The Heritage Orchestra to appear on the new album ‘Where Did The Night Fall’.

Featuring more than thirty classically trained musicians working alongside UNKLE’s live show, the forthcoming gig is certain to be an unusual insight into the group’s working methods. To watch a video of UNKLE in action with The Heritage Orchestra just click HERE.
