UK Festival Awards Announced

Kings Of Leon, Metallica And More

Kings Of Leon, The Verve, Muse and Rage Against The Machine are amongst the bands nominated for Best Headline Act at the UK Festival Awards.

Regarded as the Oscars of the British festival scene, the UK Festival Awards are a great chance to reflect on a typically momentous summer of musical events. Featuring fantastic sets, outright disappointments and more than a few call offs, there truly was never a dull moment at this year’s events.

The Verve and Kings Of Leon have both been nominated for their Glastonbury sets, with Jay-Z strangely omitted from that list despite many observers naming it as one of the live music events of the summer. Reading Festival had two headline nominations, with Rage Against The Machine and Metallica both up for gongs.

Other nominees at the event are The Ting Tings and Vampire Weekend for Best Live Act, while Bloc Party and The Raconteurs are both up for Best Festival Rock Act.

Glastonbury founder Michael Eavis will be recognized for his years of service at the event, when he is awarded the ‘Outstanding Contribution Award’.

The UK Festival Awards take place in October 30th in London.
