Two Door Cinema Club Smash The O2 Arena

Northern Irish group play biggest show yet...

Two Door Cinema Club stormed the O2 Arena on Friday night (December 13th) – their biggest headline show to date.

Two Door Cinema Club have never been a critic's band, not really. Yet in the long run, this hasn't held them back – endless touring, continual hard work and songs the size of Britain's debt have all contributed to make them one of the country's biggest guitar bands.

Three lads from Bangor, the group announced a show at the O2 Arena earlier this year. An audacious undertaking, it represented Two Door Cinema Club's biggest show yet with fans rapidly descending upon ticket outlets.

Joined by Swim Deep and Crystal Fighters, the band took to the stage on Friday night (December 13th) in front of one of their biggest ever audiences. Opening with 'Sleep Alone' the set relied heavily on new album 'Beacon' but the group were unafraid to delve in their past, reviving a few anthems from sleeper-hit debut album 'Tourist History'.

Utilising a lavish lighting set up, the set felt like some old fashioned, unabashed showbiz routine. From singer Alex Trimble's sparkling jacket to the confetti cannons which showered fans in red and white, Two Door Cinema Club seemed to have no other agenda but to entertain.

With the band now opting to rest and focus on their third record, the show stands both as a marker for how far they've come – and a signal of where Two Door Cinema Club could go next.
