Them Crooked Vultures Support Arctic Monkeys

Surprise slot at Brixton Academy

All star collaboration Them Crooked Vultures made their UK debut last night with a pulsating show at the O2 Academy Brixton.

The connection between Josh Homme and Arctic Monkeys continues. After producing their new album ‘Humbug’ in his Joshua Tree studio Homme’s new project Them Crooked Vultures have received their UK debut – at an Arctic Monkeys show.

Heavily rumoured, the supergroup were in Europe and recently played a show in Amsterdam. Footage from that show leaked onto the internet, giving fans a sneaky taste of their illicit heavy rock thrills.

Containing Josh Homme, Dave Grohl and John Paul Jones this group was always going to rock. Hard. Taking to the stage last night (August 26th) at the London venue the trio surprised fans who had arrived early.

Joined by guitarist Alain Johannes Them Crooked Vultures opened their set with a simple “hello” form Josh Homme. The band blitzed through their material including ‘Elephant’ which they have already posted online.

“We’re very excited to be with you tonight,” Homme said. “We’re a new band, we’re going to play a lot of new music tonight, we hope you enjoy it!”

Playing a host of new tracks, Josh Homme paused after completing ‘Gunman’. “You can do whatever you want tonight,” he declared.

Pointing at a bouncer Homme declared “this guy works for me, he might be smiling but I’ll fire his ass. If you want to dance, dance, you’re supposed to have a good time.”

Them Crooked Vultures closed with ‘Nobody Loves Me And Neither Do I’ before an epic space jam.

Is this the last we see of Them Crooked Vultures? Well, there are those Reading and Leeds rumours…
