Portland based power-pop outfit The Thermals are set to tour the UK throughout June.
Having just bagged themselves a new drummer and switched labels from Sub Pop to the celebrated Kill Rock Stars label, the band released their fourth album ‘Now We Can See’ this week (April 6th), the recording sessions for which saw them team up with Polyphonic Spree producer John Congleton.
The trio are poised to start a mammoth U.S. tour next week, which will then see them rolling into the U.K. come June to air their new material, and a batch of their older scuzz-pop nuggets such as ‘Pillars Of Salt’.
Forthcoming single ‘We Were Sick’ is a frenetic, no holds barred introduction to The Thermals. Power pop with the emphasis on ‘power’ is sees the Portland band speed through three minutes of rock abandon with almost wreckless abandon.
In a rather intense statement singer Hutch Harris claims that “we sat atop the world with limitless power and control. The only problem was our greed grew exponentially. The more we had, the more we needed. We didn’t enjoy a second of our fame and wealth…”
“When it’s all over, we’ll have “We Were Sick” to explain ourselves to the archaeologists. We were high, we were alive, we were sick.”
The Thermals are set to release their new single ‘We Were Sick’ on June 22nd. The group will play the following tour dates:
