Angular indie-pop types The Rakes are set to return for a UK tour this October.
Having spent last year in Berlin working on their their third album ‘Klang’ (Clash Music review HERE), the London four-piece returned recently for a series of UK dates, and are now set to play a handful of extra dates throughout October.
Famed for their spiky, angular guitar assaults and tales of lost weekends in Wetherspoons pubs, The Rakes’ post-punk debut ‘Capture/Release’ saw them hook up with Paul Epworth – also the man who cemented the sound of Maximo Park and Bloc Party – for their most acclaimed album.
The Rakes have been using their time to play throughout Europe, but have also managed to badmouth one current chart raiding pop star. The band’s singer Alan Donohoe took a pop at singer Lady Gaga in a daily red top, saying “Lady GaGa is trash and dresses like a prostitute. I think she’s terrible and really ugly. I hate her”. Yikes- await a response.
The Rakes are set to spend the summer touring ‘Klang’, playing dates throughout Europe before returning to the UK for only four shows (check out a live review of their Brixton Academy show HERE).
