Prog overlords The Mars Volta are set to return with their new album ‘Octahedron’ in June, and will also play two shows in London.
Famed for their explosive live outings and towering prog infernos, The Mars Volta have kept the album’s origins quiet, after their last effort was famously plagued by an incident involving a Ouija Board. The band would later cite the experience as a psycho-spiritual force that almost tore the band apart.
The duo’s next LP, ‘Octahedron’, will see them team up with Red Hot Chilli Peppers’ John Frusciante, and clocking in at forty-nine minutes, looks set to be by far their shortest album to date. Could they have embraced three-minute pop hooks?
The Mars Volta will also play live at the London ICA on June 18th, followed by a larger show at the London Somerset House on 13th July.
