Los Angeles disco punks The Mae Shi are set to well and truly take over SXSW this year, after announcing a total of fifteen shows at the event.
The Mae Shi formed in 2002 and soon became one of the most talked about groups in California. Their high octane shows were matched by the ferocity of their material, putting disco chic through the mangler.
The group are famous for their workrate, producing four full length albums in four years alongside multiple standalone EPs and singles.
The Mae Shi also hit the headlines recently for their Christian Bale tribute ‘R U Professional’ which featured samples of the actor’s infamous rant at a lighting engineer.
Currently working on the follow-up to 2008’s universally-lauded album ‘HLLLYH’, The Mae Shi are set to bring their disco-punk party to European shores in May.
Before then however, The Mae Shi have to negotiate fifteen shows in just four days. With the heat associated with SXSW, this would no doubt win the admiration of everyone in attendance!
