The Horrors Play Electric Picnic

London group air new track

London garage goth types The Horrors played an unreleased track during their set at Electric Picnic.

With their second album ‘Primary Colours’ The Horrors stunned fans and critics alike. A breathtaking album, the material added a sense of ambition to the sonic framework of their rough and ready debut.

Earning huge plaudits, The Horrors toured across Britain and beyond. Since the release of the album the band have not completed any new material, although an expanded edition added a Japanese only track.

Settling down to work on their third album, The Horrors broke cover to perform at Ireland’s Electric Picnic. Playing the Crawdaddy Stage, the band played new track ‘Endless Blue’ for the first time.

Drawing heavily on their second album ‘Primary Colours’ the band surprised fans by dropping in the new track just before set closer ‘The Sea Within A Sea’.

Titled ‘Endless Blue’ it continues the sound of their second album, featuring a breakdown where singer Faris Badwan is accompanied by a primal beat courtesy of drummer Joseph Spurgeon.

Other highlights of the weekend included LCD Soundsystem, The Fall and a solo turn by Radiohead drummer Philip Selway. Elsewhere, Mumford & Sons earned a massive Main Stage crowd, and toasted the success of Tipperary – who beat Meath in the All-Ireland Gaelic Football final.

Elsewhere, Friendly Fires blasted through material from their debut. Working on new material the band have decided to add a brand new track to their forthcoming ‘Bugged Out’ mix.

Massive Attack played a rain lashed Main Stage set, with 3D paying tributes to the crowd’s patience. Manchester legends The Fall played the Crosby Stage, with singer Mark E Smith throwing his microphone into the audience.
