A new exhibition by legendary photographer Rankin is set to boast appearances from Little Boots and The Enemy.
Rankin is one of the foremost photographers in the music industry right now. Clash should know – we worked with the boy on the current issue, with our maverick snapper braving the wrath of Jay-Z to get the perfect shot.
Now the photographer is set to step out on the other side of the lens to host a new exhibition of his work. Held in the Phillips De Pury Gallery in London the new show opens next month with a flurry of activity.
For the show Rankin has asked a number of famous musicians to customise a photo of themselves. Amongst those who agreed to participate were Blur’s Alex James, Carl Barat, Jarvis Cocker and REM singer Michael Stipe.
The exhibition will be open throughout November, with a number of special events planned. Electro pixie Little Boots is due to perform at the exhibition of music and art events, titled ‘Destroy’.
The singer released her debut album earlier this year, which was hailed as an inventive new voice in British pop. The following day Midlands trio The Enemy will play in the exhibition, which will be a considerably smaller venue than the ones they are used to.
The band were chosen as a support act on the (possibly final) UK tour by Oasis earlier this year. The Enemy played to thousands of fans in venues such as Wembley Stadium, Slane Castle and Scotland’s Murrayfield.
In addition to these ticketed shows, a number of viewings featuring performances by acts including Patrick Wolf and Micachu will take place prior to the ticketed gigs.
