The Drums have confirmed a replacement for their guitarist Adam Kessler ahead of a new Stateside tour.
New groups face enormous pressure to succeed. The Drums have spent the past twelve months touring across the globe, and it seems that the constant travel, press attention and label pressure has caused cracks in the band.
Friends since high school, guitarist Adam Kessler has decided to walk away from The Drums. The musician departed last week, with the band posting a statement to fans on their official website.
Claiming they were “devastated” the newcomers have now confirmed a swift replacement. Singer Jonathan Pierce told the NME that the guitar parts on their forthcoming tour will be handled by Tom Haslow.
A close friend of the band, Haslow has agreed to help out The Drums on their forthcoming tour. However the singer was keen to point out that the guitarist has not yet become a fully paid up member of the band.
Pierce described the guitarist as “a kid from New York who I’ve known for a few years.”
Continuing, the singer described the departure of Kessler as “a hard thing to accept” for the band. The Drums are about to kick off a short North American tour, before travelling to the UK.
Planning to play a number of shows throughout November and December, The Drums have yet to confirm who will play guitar on the UK tour.
