The Cribs Confirm UK Winter Shows

New shows biggest to date

Wakefield indie gurus The Cribs have confirmed details of four massive December shows – the band’s biggest to date.

The Cribs stand in opposition to the current glut of indie groups. Where some sign with a major label and achieve instant success – only to decline and eventually be dropped – The Cribs have opted for credibility and good old fashioned hard graft.

The band’s last album ‘Men’s Needs, Women’s Needs, Whatever’ saw them move beyond being a cult phenomenon. Featuring guest appearances from the likes of Lee Ranaldo, the album was hailed as the group’s finest to date.

Since then, The Cribs have gained a new member. With a CV boasting stints with Electronic, Modest Mouse, The The and of course The Smiths Johnny Marr is one of the definitive indie guitarists.

After meeting the Jarmans the six stringer was apparently bowled over by their sincerity, and agreed to join the band full time. On a tour earlier this year the group played together as a quartet, and unveiled a host of new songs.

Completing their fourth album with Nick Launay in Los Angeles, the band confirmed details of the new release recently. Titled ‘Ignore The Ignorant’ the record is possibly The Cribs’ most confident to date and could well see them enter the mainstream.

In a recent interview the band spoke out against the modern British indie scene. Johnny Marr revealed that he felt The Cribs were one of the few bands in the British music scene who refuse to compromise.

“Whether you want to call it politics with a small ‘p’, or in capitals,” he outlined, “the band have made no apologies about being political in the past. That makes us a different prospect to a bunch of bands in white plastic suits.”

The Cribs have confirmed details of the following tour dates:

December
2 Birmingham O2 Academy
3 London O2 Brixton Academy
5 Doncaster Dome
6 Edinburgh Corn Exchange
