The Apple Cart Returns

Initial line up unveiled

The Apple Cart is set to return this summer with an eclectic mixture of music, comedy and art.

Brought to you by the same team who birthed Field Day and Underage, The Apple Cart is one of London’s more unusual one day events. Perfect for families, last summer’s instalment merged new music with art and spoken word.

Returning for a fresh instalment in Victoria Park, this summer’s event will arrive slightly earlier to avoid clashing with the Olympics. Taking place on June 3rd, the first names on the bill for The Apple Cart have been announced.

Noah & The Whale returned with their third album ‘Last Night On Earth’ in 2011, winning critical plaudits in the process. A euphoric, uplifting experience the album saw the band experiment with synths and an AOR tinge.

At heart a pop record, the band’s live shows are gaining in strength with each passing day. Elsewhere, British folk icon Billy Bragg is set to appear at the Apple Cart, following the recent release of ‘Fight Songs’.

A compilation of topical downloads, the release underlined the songwriter’s commitment to left wing politics and the digital era.

On the music side, The Apple Cart will also boast performances from Stornoway, Neneh Cherry, Jeffrey Lewis & The Junkyard and more.

As always, though, the one day event looks beyond music and the comedy line up is already enticing. Josie Long will drop by, while Charlie Baker, Seann Walsh, Shappi Khorsandi, Suzi Ruffell and more have all been named on the line up.

With plenty more art, cabaret and magic activities to be announced The Apple Cart will be definitely be worth keeping an eye on as the year progresses.

The Apple Cart takes place on June 3rd.
