Mental British two-piece That Fucking Tank are set to bring the tactics of shock and awe to a venue near you after confirming a full UK tour.
In these days of indie landfill, every more generic acts seem to be emerging from the British Isles. Fighting against this are a series of band who dare to go against the grain, producing some inventive music in the process.
That Fucking Tank hail from Leeds, which seems to be a melting pot of styles. Inspired by punk the band began making music explicitly on their own terms. A two piece, the group use only a baritone guitar and drums to make the most unholy of rackets.
Their debut mini-album ‘A Document Of The First Set’ was released back in 2004, or thereabouts. A blast of raucous noise it was recorded live in the studio, and caught ears across the country.
Matching their uncompromising noise with a cheeky sense of humour, the band have progressed towards something approaching a pop song. Recent album ‘Tanknology’ – their second – bore some side splitting song titles.
‘Bruce Springstonehenge’ is pretty much an instrumental cover of ‘Dancing In The Dark’, something that would make purist lovers of The Boss rip their ears off in disgust. However elsewhere there is something approaching calm, with That Fucking Tank producing some folk picking on ‘John Faheyshanu’.
