Returning indie dons Teenage Fanclub are set to head out on a rare British tour.
Teenage Fanclub are one of the most influential indie groups to have emerged from Glasgow’s sprawling music scene. Their 1991 album ‘Bandwagonesque’ remains a seminal document, bonding retro 60s styles to noise rock.
Since then the band have become the genial grandfathers of indie rock. Teenage Fanclub released their last album in 2005, with ‘Man Made’ greeted by the now customary critical round of applause.
Preparing to release new album ‘Shadows’ later this year, Teenage Fanclub are breaking a five year silence. Not much is known about the record, which follows on from a series of side projects by the band.
It is not known which label will release the album, but the band are set to preview new material on a series of tour dates. Teenage Fanclub rarely tour, but are due to perform at this year’s Camden Crawl.
Performing at London’s KOKO venue on May 1st, the show sits at the centre of a lengthy British tour. Aside from shows in Edinburgh, Leeds and Bristol Teenage Fanclub have confirmed a hometown show in Glasgow’s ABC venue on June 2nd.
