Between 2017-2020 (and a bit longer, if anyone’s counting) Clash Live and Metropolis Studios have partnered to host a series of stellar live shows, showcasing some of the best talent in the land. It’s been quite a trip. IAMDDB played Metropolis Studios a matter of weeks before her BBC Sound Of 2018 nomination, international guests dropped in whilst touring, and new artists honed their chops in world famous Studio A. The full list of artists taking part veers from feral South London grunge to St. Lucian production and back again.

Renowned for their high-end audio fixation, Clash & the Metropolis teams recorded each set, and it’s built up into a library of some of the best breaking artists in the country. All rights to recordings are retained by the artists to add these very special live tracks to their own catalogues.

The series returned in March with Delilah Montagu serenading a packed Studio A on International Women’s Day styled by Ellesse. Followed by Hak Baker in April taking the roof off with Yogi FootwearMasterPeace descended onto the complex in May jumping around the speaker stacks, styled by the mighty PatrickJelani Blackman brought the roof down for June with a mosh pit that will go down in the annals styled by ellesse. July saw the mighty Guvna B step onto the stage in partnership with the good folks at Avirex and Tara Lily performed a spellbindingly beautiful set in August with ellesse.

The experience is free for fans and guests to attend. Space is extremely limited and the demand is high so we are running a ticket lottery format via the sign-up form at the bottom of this page. This month we bring the sensationally talented Tay Iwar to the Clash Live stage styled in a bespoke look by the incredible team at Ellesse.

TAY IWAR:

The Nigerian star simply does not miss, merging Afrobeats with neo-soul to craft something immersive. With that wonderful voice and unique sense of poise, Tay is building something singular, something that stands on its own. Tay Iwar has recently released his highly anticipated EP “Summer Breeze”, which features a star studded line up of talent including Knucks, Kojey Radical and Juls, Twelve XII and IDK.

The EP follows the release of the vibrant single “Summer Breeze” ft. Juls, slow-burningUndercover Loverft. Twelve XII and incandescent “Healing”. In his first project in over a year, Tay Iwar lays himself bare across eight tracks that refreshingly intertwine the rhythmic sonics of afrobeats with the soulful and vocal-centric aspects of R&B to mesmerising effect. The restorative “Summer Breeze” reflects on both heartbreak and hopefulness, Tay’s sensitive, soul-searching lyricism and accomplished production surging towards serenity in the middle of the storm.

Tay’s inimitable sound brings together a heady and thrilling fusion of classic Afrobeat, R&B, hip-hop and future sounds, carving out a wholly distinctive space of his own on the world stage. His prolific career as a singer, songwriter and producer has led to a coveted collaboration roster, working with artists including Tamera, Sainte, Juls, Asa, Pa Salieu and award-winning rapper Dave.

He is well-known for his work with Afrobeats superstar Wizkid, having featured on “True Love” off his Grammy-nominated album Made In Lagos, and also has production credits on Burna Boy’s “Alone” – the standout track from the Black Panther: Wakanda Forever Soundtrack and most recently featured on American rapper IDK’s single “Elmina”.

The Summer Breeze EP consolidates Tay Iwar as a vital voice within the global soul community, as well as adding something distinctive to the reputation of Nigerian arts. He is leading from the front with summer sizzlers that push apart grey clouds, the EP revels in connection.
