T In The Park Organisers Thank Fans

Revellers on best behaviour

T In The Park organisers have thanked fans after the event went ahead without a hitch.

That was the weekend that was. T In The Park is Scotland’s biggest music festival and sees over 80,000 fans gather on the Balado site for three days of very special performances. Whether you were there to see Beyonce or Odd Future (or both) the event managed to please almost everyone.

For the most part the rain held off, although torrential showers did interrupt Sunday’s proceedings. Drawing to a close with a headline set from Foo Fighters, the band were followed by organiser Geoff Ellis who thanked fans for helping make the event what is has become.

Issuing a follow up statement today (July 11th) the festival boss appeared to be delighted with the weekend. “We were delighted with the behaviour of the fans throughout T in The Park” he said. “Even a deluge of rain on Sunday failed to dampen the great-natured and carnival spirit of the crowd.”

Continuing, the festival boss thanked police and stewards for their role. “Event Commander Chief Superintendent Craig Suttie and his team led the way with the community style policing of his officers and it worked superbly well. This, along with the excellent work of the stewards, made this one of the best – and safest – T in the Parks ever.”

On paper, it certainly is. Crime Figures fell from the same time last year, with 2011 witnessing only 53 arrests between the gates opening and Foo Fighters closing the festival on Sunday.

In addition to this, the Scottish ambulance service treated the same number of people as last year and reported no major injuries or incidents.

The launch of the Citizen T program – encouraging campers to look after their neighbours – apparently helped the event run smoothly. “Citizen T generates a feeling of being part of one big family. The campers in the Citizen T site got to know each other and looked after each other. It is an initiative we will certainly be looking to expand on next year” explained Ellis.

Tickets for T In The Park 2012 go on sale on Thursday morning.
