Acclaimed Welsh new music festival SWN has confirmed the first names on its bill for this year’s event.
Organised by Radio 1 DJ Huw Stephens, SWN takes its name from the Welsh word meaning ‘sound’. Addicted to new music, Stephens began to assemble some of the finest young talent from Britain and abroad for a series of shows in Cardiff.
Since its inaugural event SWN has become one of Britain’s most anticipated showcases. A bit like a left-field version of the Camden Crawl SWN uses a ton of venues across Cardiff, with the Welsh capital becoming a hive of activity.
Away from the gigs are a series of events that are designed to help young people gain a foothold in the music industry. Gathering top executives and experienced professionals SWN aims to open doors and launch careers.
This year the event has invited Welsh based indie champions Los Campesinos! to curate their own night of musical finery. Performing alongside Dananananaykroyd, the band will gather some of their favourite new acts.
Also confirmed to play are the likes of exciting new producer Daedelus along with the likes of Gold Panda and Minotaur Shock.
Other emerging talent set to play are San Francisco’s Girls and Stonehaven’s Copy Haho. The Scottish group released their debut EP earlier this year, and recently made the epic trek to play a Clash Saturday Social.

Joining the newcomers on the bill is legendary songwriter Martin Carr. As the leader of Boo Radleys the singer shifted from shoegazing swirl to Britpop finery, virtually defining sunshine with ‘Wake Up’.
Going solo under the name Brave Captain the singer continues to make challenging music. Joining Carr on the bill are the likes of Broken Family Band and London math-rock heroes Three Trapped Tigers.
SWN Festival takes place in venues across Cardiff between October 22nd – 24th.
