Wales’ biggest live music showcase event SWN has expanded its bill yet again, adding 50 bands to proceedings.
Founded by Radio 1 DJ Huw Stephens, SWN takes it name from the Welsh word for sound. Created with the aim of celebrating the rich and diverse Welsh music scene, SWN is an annual event that has helped launch some of Britain’s hottest new groups.
Returning this year, the Cardiff based event has expanded its line up to include well over 100 bands. Headliners this year will include Los Campesinos! who actually formed in the Welsh capital.
Joining the band are the likes of Gold Panda, Dananananaykroyd, Hail! The Planes, The Leisure Society, Three Trapped Tigers and more.
However the organisers aren’t going to rest there, with SWN unveiling an astonishing fifty new acts in one go. Electro producer Drums Of Death will perform, alongside such disparate acts as An Experiment On A Bird In The Air Pump, Slow Club, Rose Elinor Dougall and more.
Leeds based post-hardcore mentalists Pulled Apart By Horses are due to perform twice, providing they manage to make it through their first set without serious injury. If you’ve seen the band play live, you’ll know what we mean by “providing”.
As usual, SWN is about more than just the music. The event brings together a vast number of industry types who will pass on secrets of how to make it. Journalists, PR types, record label bosses and more will converge on Cardiff for a series of panels and discussions.
With more acts still to be announced, SWN Festival is set to grow and grow.
SWN takes place in venues across Cardiff between October 22nd – 24th.
