Summer Sundae Weekender Expands

Bombay Bicycle Club For Bash

Hotly tipped newcomers Bombay Bicycle Club are amongst the new additions to Leicester bash Summer Sundae Weekender.

The Midlands is an undiscovered area of British music. Renowned for its metal scene, and of course 2 Tone, the landscape suffers from its location. Neither as plush as the South or as unified as the North, it is often overlooked.

The Summer Sundae Weekender aims to put the Midlands on the map by producing a sensational festival. Held in the grounds of Leicester’s historic De Montford Hall, the event has grown to become one of the largest in the country.

This year Summer Sundae Weekender takes place between August 14th – 16th, with a number of star performers. Headline performances can be expected from the likes of The Streets, who are currently preparing to record their final album.

Joining Mike Skinner at the bash are baggy survivors The Charlatans and Scouse pop pirates The Zutons. Formerly signed to Deltasonic, the band parted ways with their label last year and are currently working on a number of new songs.

As ever, Summer Sundae Weekender offers fans lots of non-musical activities. Family friendly, there are a number of special areas devoted to young children and young at heart adults alike.

Organisers are still putting the finishing touches to the bill. London based newcomers Bombay Bicycle Club have been making waves of late, and the band are amongst the new additions to the line up.

Debut album ‘I Had The Blues But I Shook Them Loose’ is available soon, and has already garnered a clutch of great reviews.

Joining the band at the three day event are Liverpool psych-pop legends The Lightning Seeds. Led by producer Ian Broudie, the band recently reformed after a lengthy hiatus. Expect a hit laden set that stretches back to their early Terry Hall led incarnation.

Other acts confirmed for the bill are The Beat, Filthy Dukes, Idlewild, Fanfarlo and many, many more.

Summer Sundae Weekender is due to take place between August 14th – 16th.
