Indie-folk newcomers Stornoway have announced details of a very different type of album launch.
A loose knit collective from Oxford, Stornoway took their name from a small town on a Scottish island. Exemplifying their love of geography, the band recently decided to up sticks and see what the Western Isles are actually like.
In one of the year’s more appropriate tours Stornoway played material from their forthcoming album to the residents of Lewis. At home in the town which gave them their name, the band have now announced an equally unusual show to launch their debut album.
Returning to Oxford, Stornoway are to play three shows unveiling new material. Running between May 16th – 18th the band are set to takeover the The A1 Pool Hall to showcase their debut album.
The band plan to play ‘Beachbomer’s Windowsill’ in full, but face a few challenges in their way. Stornoway will take to the stage in the run down pub, which has no electricity to boast of.
Setting up to perform without any amplification or effects, the entirely acoustic show will see tables lit by candles. Something different, with Stornoway set to unveil a series of surprises for fans.
Limited to just 100 tickets per night, fans are set to snap up briefs in a short time as anticipation grows around the new album. Stornoway are also planning to unveil a series of support acts to keep the small crowd entertained.
Tickets are set to go on sale for the shows from May 1st, with demand expected to be fierce for an extremely unusual album launch.
Stornoway have confirmed the following shows:
