Stevie Wonder For Hard Rock Calling

Motown legend joins bill

Motown icon Stevie Wonder is to headline this summer’s instalment of Hard Rock Calling.

Stevie Wonder is a legend of pop music. The singer was snapped up by Motown at the age of 12, but was already competing with songwriters such as Smokey Robinson.

Turning twenty as the 70s dawned, Stevie Wonder dominated the decade with four incredible albums which stretched the format to the limit. Anticipating shifts in technology, his music was more up to date, more spiritual and more successful than any other male artist.

Still creating wonderful music, Stevie Wonder remains an incredible live performer. Set to play a no doubt spectacular set at this summer’s Glastonbury festival, the Motown icon is also due to perform at Hard Rock Calling.

Held in Hyde Park, the festival is essentially a series of four stand alone shows with each headliner supported by a number of top names. Stevie Wonder will be joined by Jamiroquai, who spent the bulk of their early career sifting through his back catalogue.

Joining the party will be Corinne Bailey Rae and James Morrison. Tickets for the event are due to go on sale from 9am on Friday (March 26th).

Already confirmed for the bill is former Stevie Wonder collaborator Sir Paul McCartney. The pair recorded ‘Ebony And Ivory’ in the 80s and remain close to this day. Could a team up be on the cards? We couldn’t possibly speculate…

Elsewhere, Seattle grunge gods Pearl Jam are set to headline the Hyde Park event after the release of their new album last year.

Hard Rock Calling takes place between June 23rd – 26th.
