Stars Turn Out For Dead Weather

Jack White & Co. make L.A. debut

A vast array of stars from the music world turned out for the Los Angeles debut of Jack White’s new band The Dead Weather.

The Dead Weather were introduced earlier this year. Playing their first show before an invited audience in Nashville, the superstar line up had tongues wagging with the band’s debut album ‘Horehound’ being one of the year’s most talked about releases.

Since then the group have made few public appearances. The Dead Weather are set to travel to Britain for a number of tour dates later this year, but also recently announced an unusual secret show.

The band are due to perform in a secret basement location in London with no fans present. Instead footage from the show will be broadcast live on the internet, with The Dead Weather set to unveil their debut album.

Jack White returned to Los Angeles on Wednesday (June 17th) to play the Roxy Theatre. The Dead Weather made their debut in the city in front of a star-packed audience, who included many friends and well wishers.

Led Zeppelin guitarist Jimmy Page watched the band perform, with the rock hero being a friend of White’s. The pair starred in the film ‘It Might Be Loud’ alongside U2’s The Edge, with the movie exploring the musicians’ love of the guitar.

Joining Page in the audience were the likes of Josh Homme of Queens Of The Stone Age, Danger Mouse, Boom Bip, Har Mar Superstar and actor Benizio del Toro.

Homme has, of course, worked with Dead Weather member Dean Fertita – a former member of Queens Of The Stone Age.

The Dead Weather kicked off with their track ’60 Feet Tall’ before running through ‘Horehound’ in its entirety. Jack White sat behind the drums for the whole night, apart from a highly charged duet with Alison Mosshart.

The pair had the been the subject of much rumour, with White and Mosshart alleged to have had a furious bar brawl in New York. Of course, the pair denied it but fused their performance with a striking energy.

Ending with a cover of Bob Dylan’s ‘New Pony’ the group gathered to take a bow before the audience.

The Dead Weather are set to release ‘Horehound’ on July 13th.
