Legendary American musician Bruce Springsteen has been confirmed as a headliner for this year’s Glastonbury festival.
The Glastonbury festival is set to return in 2009, bigger and better than ever. Thanks to an innovative new ticket scheme the event is already close to selling out, a fantastic response to last year’s wide spread criticism.
This year’s instalment of Worthy Farm fun will have four headliners, according to Michael Eavis. Franz Ferdinand have already confirmed themselves as playing the event, while Blur and Neil Young have also been mooted as possible headliners.
In a new interview with the Guardian organiser Michael Eavis confirmed The Boss’ appearance and said he hoped Springsteen would make the event “one of our best shows ever”.
“I’m so pleased that Bruce Springsteen has agreed to come to Worthy Farm for the first time. He’s one of the all-time rock legends,” he said.
Amongst Bruce Springsteen’s recent gigs were Barack Obama’s inaugural ball, and the Superbowl half time show.
Glastonbury takes place at Worthy Farm, Somerset between June 26th-28th.
