Maverick American group Spoon have confirmed a short British tour later in the year.
Spoon were formed over fifteen years ago, and have risen from obscurity to become one of the most respected groups in left field American rock music.
Informed by groups such as Pixies and British punk dons Wire, early releases showed a band struggling to find its own sound. However over the course of albums such as ‘Kill The Moonlight’ Spoon began to establish themselves are creative, probing musicians.
The band last emerged with their new album ‘Ga Ga Ga Ga Ga’. Released back in 2007, Spoon followed this with their most extensive touring to date gaining a foothold in the mainstream in the process.
Since then Spoon have released a new EP – ‘Got Nuffin’ – and also returned to the studio to work on their new album. Titled ‘Transference’ the album is due to be released in the opening months of 2010.
The band are set to preview material from the forthcoming album with a series of shows in the first few weeks of 2010. Spoon are due to play three shows, in some rather intimate venues across the country.
Spoon will open the tour in Glasgow on Valentine’s Day, before heading south to play shows in Manchester and London.
Spoon are set to release ‘Transference’ on January 25th. The band are due to play the following dates:
February
14 Glasgow King Tuts
15 Manchester Academy 3
16 London Electric Ballroom
