Sonar have revealed their 2012 plans with four events taking place across the globe including Barcelona, Tokyo, Sao Paulo and Cape Town.
Sonar Barcelona will take place from 14th-16th June. Barcelona’s International Festival of Advanced Music and New Media Art to give it its full title will see appearances from The Roots, Fatboy Slim, James Blake, Julio Bashmore, Hot Chip, Squarepusher, label showcases from Hyperdub, Brainfeeder and 100% Silk, John Paul Jones (yes THAT John Paul Jones) and a host of others.
On March 2nd ‘A Taste Of Sonar hits Africa for the first time with an event in Cape Town, South Africa in collaboration with the large multidisciplinary event Design Indaba. Playing at that event are Modeselektor, Byetone, Brodinski and of course a number of South Africa’s premier talent.
Returning to Japan for the fifth time, SonarSound Tokyo happens on the 21st and 22nd April with a mix of international, Squarepusher, The Cinematic Orchestra, Vincent Gallo, Clark, Rustie, and Japanese artists.
Happening on on 11th and 12th May, Sónar São Paulo will features- Mogwai, Jeff Mills, Squarepusher, Za! and Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs. Those are in addition to the previously announced, Björk, Justice, Alva Noto & Ryuichi Sakamoto, James Blake, Four Tet and Modeselektor.
