Somerset House Summer Series is set to return this summer, with organisers unveiling the full line up.
The annual burst of live music turns the historic house into a full on venue, inviting a broad array of performers to grace its stage.
Bigger and bolder than ever, the Somerset House Summer Series kicks off on July 7th with a set from Hiatus Kaiyote.
Hiatus Kaiyote have carved a mystifying and unique world with their blend of alluring lyricism and cinematic soundscapes. The two-time Grammy Award nominated outfit have gallivanted into unparalleled accolades and success straight from Melbourne’s eclectic music scene with their soulful, genre-defying sounds and superlative dynamic live performances.
Clash are also excited to catch Laura Mvula. Since bursting onto the cultural landscape, Laura has become one of the UK’s finest exports. From her Mercury Prize nomination and MOBO wins to her BRIT Awards and Ivor Novello nods, Laura has found herself at the forefront of the current soul revival since 2013. Laura most recently released new single Overcome – a collaboration with the legendary Nile Rodgers.
As if that wasn't enough to peak your interest, this year sees St Germain enter the arena and pack out the historic courtyard setting. An uncontested and respected figure in the world of electronic music for the past two decades, a pioneer of the “French Touch” and a creator of intelligent, sensual and original deep house, St Germain has always stood out. His new eponymous album is a subtle mixture of machines and instruments, of authentic roots and modern influences.
To round off our staff picks from the line-up we are excited to see James Lavelle presenting a unique UNKLE:REDUX audio visual show with composer Philip Sheppard, a regular collaborator since UNKLE’s Never Never Land album in 2003. UNKLE have created some of the most interesting soundscapes in recent memory, with a host of international guest artists and producers.
Paul Heaton and Jacqui Abbott will perform, while other confirmed acts include Clash favourites Benjamin Clementine, Courtney Barnett, Everything Everything, and more.
Tickets are on sale from £29.50 (plus booking fee)
