Northern Irish stadium indie types Snow Patrol are due to play a number of very special tour dates this Winter.
Beginning as a shambling indie group in Dundee, Snow Patrol have graduated to become a shambling indie act that tour the world. With the release their ‘Final Straw’ album the band moved from cult phenomenon to a chart phenomenon.
Since then, Snow Patrol have rarely looked back. Last year’s album ‘A Hundred Million Suns’ was followed by a burst of touring that saw the group take in some of their largest venues to date.
At one point Snow Patrol played a hometown show in Belfast to some 7000 people, including the entire Northern Irish international football squad. However for the band’s next tour Snow Patrol intend to roll back the clock.
‘Snow Patrol Reworked’ features the band trawling through their back catalogue. Looking back over fifteen years the tour will also include material from the short lived project The Reindeer Section.
As much as people are ashamed to admit it, there was a point when Snow Patrol were a genuinely credible indie group. The band played the Bowlie Weekender while singer Gary Lightbody led The Reindeer Section – a Scottish supergroup featuring members of Idlewild, Teenage Fanclub, Belle & Sebastian and more.
To spice things up for fans, each tickets for the shows will contain a code for a free download. Snow Patrol will allow fans to download a copy of the incredible ‘Lightning Strike’, the epic trilogy that mesmerised anyone who heard it.
