Skepta is among the special guests assembling for KOKO’s first anniversary party.
The London venue underwent a huge transformation, re-opening last year to huge acclaim. The iconic main room was spruced up, but the real secrets were revealed elsewhere across its labyrinthine five-floor lay out.
Celebrating one year since the big re-opening, KOKO has gathered a stellar cast for a weekend-long birthday bash next month. Friday, April 28th resonate with tunes from mighty Peckham based crew Rhythm Section, lead by founder Bradley Zero, Josey Rebelle, and Batu.
Cafe KOKO will host the African new wave with Guiltybeatz and DJ Sim, while the House of KOKO holds down an enormous five-floor party, with Foals (DJ set), Crazy P Soundsystem, and more.
April 29th is a special theatrical event, courtesy of No Art with ANOTR, and the weekend is brought to a close by iconic UK artist Skepta.
A pivotal figure in grime’s evolution, Skepta returned to his house roots last year for a series of high-profile DJ sets. His new house-centric label Más Tiempo – the Spanish exhortation for “more time” – launches at the party, with Skepta set to be joined by fellow BBK hero Jammer, broadcaster Benji B, and Maximum.
Tickets are on sale now.
KOKO’s first anniversary weekend runs between April 28th – 30th.
