This year Munich has an entirely new experience to share with the world. Their first major music event in the form of Superbloom, a weekend festival held at the Olympic Park across September 3rd – 4th.
Superbloom has pulled out all the stops, curating “experience” areas that span drama, modern circus, contemporary art, science and more. No wonder it’s already a sold-out event on its first run. With an abundance of emerging talent and a lineup filled with some major stars, Superbloom promises to be an unforgettable weekend that hopefully tips towards building a long-running staple for Bavaria’s capital city.
We’ve selected six things at the inaugural Superbloom festival that you won’t want to miss…
Discovering New Sounds At The NeoNeo Stage
Superbloom has provided the unique opportunity to discover budding up-and-coming talent over on The NeoNeo Stage. Nestled firmly in the centre of the festival the area is dedicated to showcasing the freshest national and international newcomers on the scene. Some of our favourite picks from this lineup include Nina Chuba who melds pop with hip-hop influences and has seen an almost meteoric rise over the past couple of years. Followed by the euphoric sounds of BRUCKNER on Saturday. Sunday welcomes Cosma Joy and her deeply touching atmospheric ballads after which Nikan will take the spotlight with his blend of electronic-infused rap that has been making waves across borders.
Getting Down To BeerBrass+Beats
What is a Munich event without a good beer garden? The Superbloom answer to this question comes in the form of BeerBrass+Beats, where the classic beer garden is reinterpreted, with a combination of rousing brass music in the daytime and nighttime DJ sets showcasing the best sounds of the Bayern 3 DJs. Head down beside Entrance B to revel in the party in true Munich fashion, with a cool beer, delicious delicacies and surrounded by lively energy as the sun hits you in just the right way.
Hearing Your Favourite Big Artists
Of course, we can’t touch on the things you don’t want to miss without paying attention to the biggest acts in attendance. On Saturday you can catch Megan Thee Stallion (who bodied her latest album release) at the Olympic Stage, followed by rock icons AnnenMayKantereit and the legendary Calvin Harris. Sunday sees Kraftklub take to the Olympic Stage whilst over on the Super Stage and the Bloom Stage we’re blessed with Willow, Girl In Red, Glass Animals and Stromae to name a few. Rest assured at Superbloom you will get ample opportunity to see some of your favourite big names perform live.
Engaging Important Discussions
Yes, we know the main goal for some at a festival is purely music and vibes however Superbloom is here to provide you with a special opportunity to engage in meaningful, critical conversation with some of the most progressive minds around. From the interactive experiments and exploration of natural sciences and technology with renowned scientists over in the SuperBrain area to the sustainability-focused interactive playground of Your Planet. Superbloom is rife with the opportunity to engage with big ideas that make a difference. For those who are passionate about fashion, beauty, lifestyle and sports – District4 is here to tackle precisely that need with performances, panels, and talks galore.
Recentering At The Hideaway
It doesn’t all have to be go go go and Superbloom understands just that, bestowing us with an intimate and charming music stage that floats serenely on the Olympic Lake, aptly named – The Hideaway. This stage gives you the chance to connect with a spectacular array of singer-songwriters whose soulful and uplifting melodies will carry you to an idyllic emotional state. Highlights on The Hideaway lineup include the acoustic duo Amistat, pop-indie newcomer SEDA and Latin singer-songwriter Katy Santos. The lineup and atmosphere combine to create an energy that is sure to bring The Hideaway to its full glory.
Taking In Contemporary Artwork
Over on the lawn next to the Olympic tower is an area that is dedicated as an exhibiting space for contemporary art. This space goes by the name ArtBloom, where professional artists display excitingly complex sculptures and installations, some of which are site based and created in direct response to Superbloom itself. Move between the colourfully juxtaposing art of Louisa Abdelkader, to the simple complexity of Patrick Borchers’ spatial drawings, all whilst taking in Stefan Wischnewski’s dynamic sculptural installations and the bright sharpness of Carolina Camilla Kreusch’s unfettered work.
Superbloom runs between September 3rd – 4th.
