Legendary rock outfit The Rolling Stones have seemingly been forced to delay their anniversary tour.
And so the speculation around a proposed Rolling Stones tour continues. The band have been silent since the end of 2007’s ‘A Bigger Bang’ tour, but with their 50th anniversary approaching fans have been expecting the group to get back out on the road.
Rehearsals took place earlier this year, but seemingly The Rolling Stones are simply not ready to launch a tour. American magazine Rolling Stone have conducted an extensive investigation, with claims that Keith Richards might not withstand the rigours of the road.
Chatting with the Stateside title, though, the guitarist remained a natural raconteur. “Basically, we’re just not ready,” he said. Citing 2013 as a potential date, Richards said: “I have a feeling that’s more realistic”.
Enduring a dangerous fall back in 2006, Keith Richards has spent time away from music. However that didn’t stop the guitarist from engineering a quick rehearsal period with The Rolling Stones earlier this year.
“It was a very back-to-basics sort of session” he insisted. “There was a lot of jamming. On the third day, Mick turned up, which was a real joy. Because I set it up really as a magnet, you know.”
The rehearsals are seemingly set to continue on an ad hoc basis. “We’ll just get the boys back together again then and maybe cut a side,” he said. “I’ve got plenty in the locker here, but it’s not on tape.”
Meanwhile, Eagle Rock Entertainment are planning to release an as yet untitled documentary about the Rolling Stones. A 50th anniversary celebration, the film traces the band’s evolution from their origins to the present day.
Brett Morgen directs, with the film set to contain hours of never-before-seen footage in a totally uncensored format.
Eagle Rock Entertainment will release their Rolling Stones documentary later this year.
