Rock Ness Up For Award

Event In Shortlist For Best Fest

Pride of the North and one of the most debauched weekends around Rock Ness has reached the shortlist of the UK Festival Awards – the Oscars of the festival scene.

Having just completed its third year, Rock Ness has enjoyed staggering success. Clash occupied an arena there in 2007 when Daft Punk played an utterly jaw dropping set, and, according to the judges, this year has been even better.

Nominated in the ‘Best Medium Sized Event’ category, the description of the criteria runs as follows: “Festivals nominated for this award generally started out much smaller, but have evolved upwards from their original roots due to their popularity and success in filling a growing niche. With a unique identity, following and intimacy, many outdoor music fans think middle-capacity festivals get the perfect blend of atmosphere and scale.”

This year’s Rock Ness festival boasted headline sets from Fatboy Slim, Razorlight, Soulwax, Hercules And Love Affair and many more. Over in the Clash Arena you could have caught Noah And The Whale, Mystery Jets, The View and many more.
