Robyn Hitchcock is set to perform ‘I Often Dream of Trains’ on the rooftop of Village Underground next week.
A deeply English songwriter, Robyn Hitchcock is fond of unusual shows. Now the maverick spirit has outdone himself, by revealing plans for a performance on the rooftop of a Shoreditch landmark.
The Village Underground is a widely respected venue, and can be picked out from some distance away thanks to the old train carriages perched on its rooftop.
On Tuesday (August 28th) Robyn Hitchcock is set to perform amongst these abandoned carriages. Appropriately – and no doubt deliberately – the artist has decided to re-visit his acclaimed album ‘I Often Dream of Trains’.
Released back in 1984, ‘I Often Dream of Trains’ remains a stand out in Hitchcock’s long and varied career. Jeff Mangum asked the English artist to appear at ATP last year, and requested that the songwriter perform the album in full.
Now Robyn Hitchcock is set to re-visit the album in rather more intimate circumstances. Tickets to the show are free, but will be limited due to space considerations.
