Robbie Williams Announces European Tour

With Olly Murs in tow...

Robbie Williams today revealed he's embarking on a 17 date European tour, kicking off with two nights at the Eithad Stadium in Manchester on the 19th and 21st June 2013.

Holding court at the Soho Hotel in London, Robbie addressed a diverse array of international press, proving that, despite the doubters, he's still a popular entertainer. Having just topped the single and album charts simultaneously with 'Candy' and 'Take The Crown', Robbie also recently sold out 3 shows at London's 02 Arena, with ticket applications oversubscribed by over 5000%. Here's what he had to say about what will be his first full tour for over 6 years:

"I'm buzzing! I'm ready to go, I haven't done a tour of this size since 2006 and I believe that I'm at a place in my career where it's time to put my foot down and go 'This is what I do'. I think it's legacy time for me because I'm venturing into getting my handicap down at golf… I'm nearly 40 is what I'm trying to say. The album's called Take The Crown and I want to go and seal my place in pop history."

Chatting about the demand for tickets and size of the arenas he'll be playing at Robbie joked it was exciting "until youe realise David Guetta did the same place. That's money for old rope innit?"

Olly Murs will be providing main support throughout the tour and Robbie had kind words to say about their relationship. "To use everyone elses words I think we're 'cheeky'. They like using the word cheeky and they like us being cheeky. And we are cheeky. There's not many people who can project that leave these TV shows. He's got that gift that when he's singing on the TV you think he's singing to you. I think that's what I do to. I think we are similar, we're male, cheeky, want to have a laugh, don't take ourselves too seriously."

Tickets for the tour go on sale on Thursday at 9am via Robbie's official site HERE.
